- South Africa National Biodiversity Institute
Principal Duties and Responsibilities of Programme Manager
- Lead protocol and policy development for laboratory operations
- Responsible for adherence in implementing laboratory protocols, procedures and policies
- Train and supervise laboratory staff
- Coordinate meetings with local stakeholders
- Represent EWILD Project and laboratory at national and international levels
- Train custodians of wildlife in sample identification and handling
- Proactively monitor project activities and risks and resolve challenges timely
- Prepare regular internal and external reports
- Regularly share results with USAID and national stakeholders
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications of Programme Manager
- Master’s degree or higher in biological sciences / ecology / conservation
- Experience in handling wildlife tissue samples, using molecular ecology tools, working with diverse stakeholders, network management, capacity building and training
- Knowledgeable in wildlife biology
- Excellent interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills; proven public speaking skills
- Working in a team environment
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
- Use of Microsoft Office required
- Fluency in English and siSwati required
- Experienced in handling USAID-funded projects an advantage
Main duties and responsibilities of Laboratory Technician
- Accurate and timely analysis of forensic samples and data
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, laboratory notes and analytical reports
- Manage laboratory stock levels
- Liaise with the laboratory’s clients and vendors
- Follow strict safety rules and procedures
- Working in a team environment
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications of Laboratory Technician
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences / molecular biology / biotechnology / genetics (a degree in science with a clear track in molecular biology will also be considered)
- Demonstrated experience working in a biology and microbiology laboratories with adherence to strict procedures
- Use of Microsoft Office required
- Fluency in English and siSwati required
- Experience using molecular tools an advantage
