Neighborhood Care Points (NCPs) are part soup kitchen and part informal pre-school established to feed and provide day care and early childhood education for orphaned and vulnerable children. Eswatini has the world's highest HIV prevalence (26% of adults) and more than 60% of it's people live below the poverty line. Most people in Eswatini are younger than 21 years and only 30% of children receive early childhood education (https://data.unicef.org/country/swz/). So NCPs in Eswatini address important needs.
The All Out Africa Foundation runs eight NCPs in Eswatini in partnership with the communities within which they are established. These include Mvutjini, Ezulwini, Mlindazwe, Elangeni, Ekuzukekeni, Nkhanini, Mahlanya, Bethani. These NCPs generally consist of at least one classroom, a kitchen, a storeroom, two toilets, a playground and a vegetable garden. Children aged 2-6 years attend the NCPs usually from 8am till 1pm. Each NCP has a teacher and cook who are volunteers from the community.
